The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz has been recognized as a HUD High Performer for more than 20 years. We are also growing. Through our nonprofit affiliate, we are expanding affordable housing development and strengthening resident services across the community.

Santa Cruz County sits at the northern edge of Monterey Bay and is home to nearly 270,000 residents. Ideally located 65 miles south of San Francisco, 35 miles north of Monterey, and 35 miles southwest of San Jose and Silicon Valley, the County offers convenient access to both coastal and urban centers.
The four incorporated cities within the County are Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Scotts Valley, y Capitola.
Santa Cruz County offers an exceptional quality of life. With more than 29 miles of beaches, towering redwood forests, and year-round outdoor recreation, the region blends natural beauty with everyday livability. A growing wine industry, vibrant local businesses, and a Mediterranean climate with roughly 300 days of sunshine each year make it an easy place to enjoy both work and downtime.

The State of California maintains more than 42,000 acres of parks across the County’s coastal and mountain landscapes, with the County preserving an additional 850 acres of local parkland.
The area is also home to respected educational institutions, including University of California, Santa Cruz and Cabrillo College, along with several highly rated high schools. The local economy is diverse and resilient, anchored by agriculture, tourism, technology, and the service sector.
